  • Department: Social Statistics

  • Description: These two diploma programmes have been designed to offer a sound training in theoretical and applied statistics and to provide qualifications for those who wish to develop their careers in various fields in the data analysis. They also provide basis for further graduate work in business statistics and social statistics.

  • Duration: Two semesters; one year full time.

 

Entry Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree and an aptitude test.

 

Course requirements:

The course on Business Statistics consists of 13 units and the preparation of an independent .- research study preferably relating to the candidate’s employment. 13 course units are the following:

  • Buisness Mathematics

  • Descriptive statistics

  • Introduction to probability

  • Random Variables and probability distributions

  • Statistical inference

  • Non-parametrics methods

  • Regression analysis

  • Operation research

  • Time series analysis

  • Survey sampling methods

  • Design of experiments

  • Statistical quality control

  • Statistical computing

 

The course on Social Statistics includes the above courses unit 11, retains 13, replaces 12th course unit with Demography and adds Economatrics. Dissertation is an integral part in both courses on Business and Social Statistics. Assessment: The assessment will be based on the written examination which will be conducted at the end of each semester and the quality of the dissertation.
