OVERVIEW

Description

The course is designed to meet the following aims:

  • To provide an educational foundation for a range of junior management careers in hospitality;
  • To provide specialized studies directly relevant to individual vocations and professions in which students are working or intend to seek employment;
  • To enable students to make an immediate contribution in employment;
  • To provide flexibility, knowledge, skills and motivation as a basis for career development and as a basis for progression to a higher level of studies;
  • To develop students’ ability in hospitality services through effective use and combination of the knowledge and skills gained in different parts of the program;
  • To develop a range of competency skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in career life.

Course Content

The Higher Diploma course comprises six (6) subject units and a mandatory work based experience. The six (6) subject units are determined by the academy from the following list:

Conference and Banqueting Management

Hospitality Operations Management

Human Resource Management for Service Industries

Marketing in Hospitality

Developing Manager

Travel and Tourism Sector

Finance in the Hospitality Industry

Food and Beverage operation Management

Rooms Division Operation Management

Quality Management in Business

Work-Based Experience/ Project

Other Informatinon

Certification

Candidates who successfully complete all 9 units of this programme will be awarded the Higher Diploma by Beacon International College.

Admission Requirements

Applicants should at least 16 years old and satisfy the following minimum academic requirements

  • At least Grade E in any Three (3) GCE ‘A’ Level subject or Diploma in Hospitality Management
  • Grade 12
  • STPM – 2 passes
  • Chinese Senior High School Year 3

Students with equivalent foreign qualifications may be admitted provided they are proficient in the English Language, and possess.

 

Course Duration/Hours

Course Duration: 6 months (Full-time) + 6 months internship OR Project

Total Hours: 360 Hours
