OVERVIEW

Description

The Diploma aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills of business and retailing management. It assists students to achieve a high degree of effectiveness within the retailing management by providing a wide range of relevant skills and talents to complement their experience in their scope of work. Graduates can apply for careers in the retailing industry.

 

Course Content

The Diploma course comprises six (8) subject units and a mandatory work-based experience. The six (6) subject units are determined by the academy from the following list:

  • Introduction to Retail Operations
  • Business Environment
  • Retail Accounting and Finance
  • Retail Communication
  • Store image, Design and Layout
  • Global Retail Management and Marketing
  • Business English
  • Customer Service
  • Work-Based Experience

Qualification Award

Candidates who successfully complete all 8 units of this program will be awarded;

Global Diploma by Global Academy of Hospitality and Management in Sari Lanka

Entry Requirements

  • GCE ‘O’ level – 3 passes
  • Grade 10
  • SPM – 3 passes
  • Chinese Senior High School Year 1
  • Students with equivalent foreign qualifications may be admitted provided they are proficient in the English Language and possess
    1. IELTS 5.0 or equivalent qualifications (wef July 2016 intake) OR
    2. A Pass in English Placement Test determined by the College

Those who fail the English Placement Test will be required to successfully complete the EAP/ESL (Lower Intermediate) course conducted by the college

Age Limit: 16 and above

 

Course Duration and Hours

6 months study + 6 months internship or project in Sri Lanka

Total study: 360 Hours

 

Teacher-Student Ratio

The maximum teacher-student ratio is 1:30

Teaching Approach And Methods

The teaching approaches and methods adopted will be according to the requirement of the learning outcomes of each unit. These may include:

Assessment

In-course assessments will be conducted.
