OVERVIEW

Department of Livestock and Avian Sciences of the Faculty of Livestock, Fisheries and Nutrition (FLFN), Wayamba
University of Sri Lanka (WUSL) offers an Advanced Certificate in Animal Husbandry.

 


ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS


The Advanced Certificate in Animal Husbandry (ACAH) program has been designed for those who are employed as
farmworkers, supervisors, livestock officers and farmworkers of public, semi-governmental or private sector livestock
farms; candidates who wish to hold an entry-level qualification in Animal Husbandry; and any person who wishes to
start a livestock venture possess any one of the following qualifications.
 

1. Faced G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) examination with at least 01-year working experience.
2. Passed aptitude test conducted by the Department of Livestock and Avian Sciences (DLAS).
3. Qualifications other than not listed above, but may be acceptable case by case and acceptable to the Board of
Study (BOS) and the Senate of WUSL.
 

MODE OF SELECTION: Applicants fulfilling admission requirements will be called to appear for an aptitude test on
basic knowledge in Animal Husbandry in Sinhala language. Those who obtain a minimum of 40% will be called for a
selection interview. Only the candidates who successfully complete the above evaluations will be selected.
 

DURATION: Six (06) months.
 

MODE & MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION: The medium of instruction will be Sinhala and an in-person mode of
education will be used in instructing the students. Printed learning materials will also be provided. All the lectures and
practical sessions will be conducted at DLAS during the weekends
